Job summary

Harford Mutual Insurance Group invites applications for a Loss Control Intern to support the Loss Control team during the summer of 2027. The role targets full-time students pursuing Occupational Safety, EHS, or related fields.

You will research virtual loss control surveys, develop safety bulletins, and participate in ride-alongs to learn industry practices while assisting with data reporting and underwriting alignment.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, or related field.
• Eligible for internship during summer 2027.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop virtual Loss Control Survey processes and resources.
• Create new safety bulletins and flyers for insureds and agents.
• Conduct Loss Control survey ride-alongs to learn different industries.
• Assist in the recommendation process and review incoming recommendations for compliance.
• Review self-inspections for hazard identification and recommendations.
• Support Loss Control reporting and documentation design.
• Collaborate with Underwriting to align survey reporting with needs.
• Explore tools and technology beneficial for loss control surveys.
• Assist with data reporting and analytics related to surveys and underwriting decisions.
