Job Overview:
The Summer Camp Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of campers and staff during aquatic activities. This position involves constant surveillance of the swimming area, immediate response to emergencies, and enforcing camp water safety rules. The ideal candidate will have strong swimming and lifeguarding skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to promoting a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all participants.
Responsibilities:
1. Lifeguard Duties:
- Supervise and ensure the safety of campers and staff during swimming and water-based activities.
- Maintain constant surveillance of the pool or waterfront area.
- Enforce camp water safety rules and regulations.
2. Emergency Response:
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, injuries, or accidents.
- Administer first aid and CPR as needed.
- Coordinate with camp medical staff and management in case of emergencies.
3. Communication:
- Effectively communicate and enforce camp safety rules to campers and staff.
- Collaborate with other lifeguards, camp counselors, and camp management to ensure smooth operations.
4. Preventative Measures:
- Conduct regular safety checks of the swimming area and equipment.
- Ensure the proper use of life jackets and other safety gear.
- Identify and address potential hazards in the water or surrounding areas.
5. Training and Orientation:
- Participate in pre-camp lifeguard training and orientation sessions.
- Familiarize campers and staff with water safety procedures and guidelines.
6. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily attendance, incidents, and any necessary reports.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications:
- Current lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to perform water rescues.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to swim long distances and remain vigilant for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry rescue equipment.
- Stamina and endurance for active and dynamic aquatic supervision.
Duration:
Seasonal position during the camp's operational period. The term will run from June 10 th , 2024 until July 25 th , 2024.
