Job summary

MacKay is seeking a full-time Land Survey Intern for 10–12 weeks during the summer of 2027. You will assist the Survey Manager with data gathering and preparation for land survey projects and demonstrate our brand through quality service.

Responsibilities include equipment calibration, field data collection, and maintaining organized notes for cadastral, boundary, and hydrographic surveys while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a recent graduate or enrolled in a surveying program; related work experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Must have a current, valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel to project locations in multiple states.
• Ability to work outdoors, walk on uneven surfaces, and perform field measurements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gathering and preparing data for land survey projects.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment including data collectors, total station, GPS, and levels.
• Keep clean, legible field notes for cadastral, boundary, ALTA, and hydrographic surveys.
• Compile and organize field observations; perform basic calculations in the field.
• Support field crews during various surveying tasks and site visits.
