Job summary

SAM is offering a Summer Internship across the U.S. focusing on geospatial and construction-phase solutions. The program lets students gain hands-on experience outdoors, work with surveyors and engineers, and learn tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

The 2027 internship runs May 17 – August 6 with housing stipends for eligible students, and parts of the program may lead to part-time work after the internship.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a 2 or 4-year Land Surveying, Geomatics or relevant program.
• GPA of 2.5 or higher (or higher on other scales).
• Passionate about the outdoors and eager to learn and grow.
• Aspiring Professional Surveyor.

Responsibilities

• Support field operations by reviewing project plans and working with surveyors and engineers.
• Research project sites by examining property records, deeds, and historical surveys.
• Operate advanced survey equipment including total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
• Establish survey control by setting control points, benchmarks, and reference markers.
• Explore surveying technology and software by transitioning from fieldwork to data processing using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation.
• Turn field data into deliverables by processing measurements and preparing survey reports for clients.
