Job summary

Clean Harbors Bristol, CT Facility is seeking a Lab Chemist Intern for Summer 2027. This in-person internship provides hands-on experience supporting projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services while prioritizing safety.

Start dates May 17 or May 24, 2027; internships run through August. You will work with experienced professionals, gain exposure to laboratory testing, instrumentation, QA/QC, and waste management, with mentorship and growth opportunities in a safety-focused

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry or other relevant field at an accredited college or university.
• Solid understanding of math, chemistry, and chemical testing.
• Experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong interest in learning about the environmental services industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols.
• Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems.
• Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation.
• Maintenance of equipment and suggests solutions to problems.
• Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion.
• Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
• Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices.
• Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
