Job summary

Clean Harbors Buttonwillow, CA Facility is seeking a Lab Chemist Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting projects across our environmental, energy, and industrial services operations.

This in-person internship runs Summer 2027 at the Buttonwillow Landfill with start dates May 17 or May 24, ending in August. You will work alongside experienced professionals to develop practical skills in metals analysis, wet chemistry, and instrument operation (GC/IC/ICP).

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to follow procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support wet chemistry testing and analysis of metals.
• Assist with analysis of facility samples using GC/IC/ICP instruments.
• Learn and follow safety protocols and waste-management procedures.
• Document data accurately and help maintain instrument calibration and records.
