Job summary

Segal in Washington, DC is seeking 2027 Summer Interns to join the Compliance Department. The internship targets JD students in year one or two, offering exposure to Health and Retirement Compliance topics and related client matters.

Interns will draft memos, research regulations, prepare client documents, attend meetings, and assist practice leaders. Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a JD program.
• Beginner knowledge of ERISA and related legislation.
• Excellent communication skills (oral/written).
• Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with and positively influence others.
• Ability to quickly and effectively perform research involving federal and state legal issues.

Responsibilities

• Researching and drafting memos on technical issues for the Compliance Practice Leaders; researching new regulations, legislation or other policy developments.
• Preparing client-specific memos and documents.
• Other tasks as requested by the Compliance Practice Leader or National Compliance Staff.
• Attending both internal and external meetings.
