The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is offering a Child and Family Services Internship (Summer 2027) open to students seeking to fulfill coursework requirements. Interns will have opportunities at multiple offices statewide, including Ogallala, Omaha, Lincoln, and more.

Interns will shadow CFSS specialists to gain hands-on experience in child welfare, working with families to promote safety and well-being, and learning to document, communicate, and apply family-centered

Qualificações

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution).
• Preferred Qualifications include coursework in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human services, mental healthcare, criminal justice, education, or related field.

• Respect the individuality of each child and family served.
• Respect each child’s family and culture.
• Implement family-centered practice principles into case management to ensure the inclusion of children and families in decision-making.
• Promote normalcy in the lives of children in care.
• Adhere to Structured Decision Making principles to keep children and families safe.
• Utilize evidence-based practices focused on least-restrictive and family-centered approaches.
• Identify and refer formal and informal interventions based on family needs.
• Write clear, concise, descriptive reports in a timely manner for legal entities and the court system.
