Job summary

An internship at the SD Rehabilitation Center for the Blind will provide hands-on experience as a rehabilitation teaching assistant in the Employment Skills Training program, helping clients with disabilities build confidence, job skills, and readiness for employment in Sioux Falls. The position runs from May to August, and applicants must be enrolled as a student.

Preference is given to South Dakota residents, with coursework in rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, or adult

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Work as a rehabilitation teaching assistant in the Employment Skills Training program.
• Assist in the skills of blindness training area when needed.
• Aid the Employment Skills Instructor with individualized training activities for clients with disabilities.
• Assist with clerical tasks, assembly work, and the weekly World of Work class.
