Job summary

Mission Indy is seeking a Summer Intern to serve in hands-on ministry and to help lead student groups in the Indianapolis area. The role includes mentoring younger students and participating in daily activities such as Power-Up sessions, games, and orientation, with teamwork among interns.

Applicants should have some leadership experience with teens, a desire to work in community development, and at least one year of college completed.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teens preferred.
• Experience with ministries or camps preferred.
• Desire to work with community development.
• At least one year of college completed (or be out of high school for one year).

Responsibilities

• Read any material provided by Mission Indy staff.
• Lead groups of Jr. and Sr. High School students and adult sponsors in service/evangelism projects near Indianapolis.
• Lead the morning Power-Up time, Games, and Orientation with fellow interns in music, drama, and devotionals.
• Be on a rotation for cleaning the shower trailer and coolers.
• Develop and maintain a servant’s heart throughout your time with Mission Indy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Purpose and Scope

The primary purpose of the Summer Intern is to be equipped (i.e., trained, challenged, encouraged, and motivated) to:

• Serve in hands-on ministry which may be at least in part related to areas of interest.
• Lead participating church groups as they serve in the community on various work sites.
• During all of the above activities, the Summer Intern will have opportunities to serve, lead, and mentor younger students in following Jesus.

Responsibilities

• Read any and all material given to you (or mailed to you) by Mission Indy staff.
• Lead groups of Jr. and Sr. High School students and their adult sponsors in various service and evangelistic projects within and/or near Indianapolis.
• Lead the morning Power-Up time, Games, and Orientation, in music, drama, and devotionals along with the other Summer Interns as a team.
• Be on a rotation for cleaning the shower trailer and coolers and in tools.
• Develop and maintain a servant’s heart throughout your time with M.I.

Requirements

• Prefer some experience leading teens in some capacity.
• Prefer some experience working with ministries or camps.
• Possess a desire to work with community development.
• At least one year of college completed (or be out of high school for one year).

Compensation

• Stipend of $2,700.
• Housing and food are provided.
• Other expenses, if applicable, for duties.
