Job summary

South Dakota Department of Social Services in Watertown is offering a Summer internship for the Child Protection Services program. The intern will assist Family Services Specialists with safety assessments, interventions, and coordinating foster care resources to protect children in their homes.

Qualifications include current enrollment as a part-time or full-time student, completion of at least one year of study by May start, with preference for South Dakota residents and students from SD

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assist Family Services Specialists with safety assessments and direct interventions to protect children.
• Coordinate and facilitate family team meetings, recruitment and support of foster/relative homes, and matching resource families for children unable to return to their birth families.
