Job summary

State of South Dakota's Department of Social Services is offering an intern position for the Summer session in Huron, SD. The intern will assist Family Services Specialists with cases involving unsafe children and potential out-of-home placements, supporting a range of child protection services.

The role requires current enrollment as a part-time or full-time student and completion of at least one year in your program, with preference to South Dakota residents and students from SD institutions.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assist Family Services Specialists with families whose children are unsafe and who may be placed out of their parent’s home.
• Coordinate and facilitate family team meetings, recruitment and support of foster and relative homes, and matching resource families for children unable to return to birth families.
