Job summary

Welltower is seeking a Summer Interior Design Coordinator Intern to support its West Coast Design team on large-scale senior living projects. The role covers design development through installation, with hands-on exposure to sourcing, documentation, field coordination, and vendor communication.

The position is field-based with a home office and requires residence in Northern or Southern California and up to 50% travel to properties in the region.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint, SketchUp.
• Pursuing or completing a degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate in a fast-paced design environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and support the design team through multiple project phases from development to installation.
• Assist with sourcing furniture, fabrics, fixtures, and finishes aligned with project needs and budgets.
• Develop studies for furniture, fabric, finishes, and materials for in-house designers.
• Prepare finish schedules, specifications, furnishing budgets, product logs, and shop drawings.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors and operator partners to support execution.
• Schedule installations, field verification, and punch-list completion.
• Attend design presentations, progress meetings, and site walks to ensure progress.
• Maintain project documentation and vendor invoicing records.
• Build productive relationships with the design team, showrooms, vendors and partners.
• Stay current with design trends, building codes, and industry standards relevant to residential and commercial design.
• Escalate design issues to the Interior Design Manager when needed.
• Assist the VP of Design and team with special projects as required.
