Job summary

Starr in Houston is offering an intensive summer internship in commercial insurance, with hands-on experience across core functions and mentorship from seasoned managers. The 10-week program focuses on building practical skills and professional development in a corporate setting.

Participants gain exposure to multiple departments, improve presentation and networking abilities, and complete a Capstone project to showcase learnings and outcomes from the internship experience.

Qualifications

• Risk Management or Insurance major preferred, but not mandatory.
• Relevant coursework preferred, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to one of the core functions of the Property/Casualty industry (Claims, Underwriting, Audit, IT, Marketing, HR, etc.).
• Interns are expected to support the business needs and gain an understanding of the industry and business.
• Hands-on training from seasoned managers/mentors to learn the nuances of key functions and departments within a leading commercial insurance company.
• Opportunities to develop professionally in a corporate workplace, including non-technical skills like presentation, networking and communication.
• Interact with other interns in a 10-week training program to understand different full-time career opportunities at Starr.
• Present a final Capstone project capturing key takeaways and provide a knowledge and skills summary.
