Job summary

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado offers a paid summer internship for undergraduates and graduates to gain hands-on experience in high-performance computing applied to Earth system science.

Interns collaborate with CISL staff on real research projects, develop and optimize computational algorithms for large-scale atmospheric modeling, and receive housing and travel support as part of the program.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with parallel computing, HPC architectures, and scientific programming.
• Ability to work independently and in collaborative research teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CISL scientists on active R&D projects related to high-performance computing for Earth system science.
• Develop, test, and optimize computational algorithms and software tools to support large-scale atmospheric modeling.
• Analyze simulation data and prepare technical documentation and reports for project stakeholders.
