Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Summer Engineer Apprentice to gain exposure to highway design, construction, and maintenance from the perspective of state government. You will participate in various activities, including surveying, traffic hazard assessment, and documenting project status.

The role offers hands-on experience across 77 Oklahoma counties with potential ownership of a project and opportunities to develop practical skills in transportation engineering.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and enrolled at ABET-accredited college or university.
• Citizenship or lawful residency as defined for employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey crew on highway projects.
• Assist with traffic hazard surveys and documentation of daily construction activities.
• Maintain highway rights-of-way and repair safety appurtenances.
• Repair roads and bridges and test construction materials.
• Verify project elements are built per plans and specifications.
• Field assignments across multiple counties based on location and availability.
