State of Oklahoma is offering a Summer Engineer Apprentice position with the Department of Transportation. This entry-level role provides exposure to highway design, construction, and maintenance through hands-on summer field work across Oklahoma counties.

The apprentice will assist survey crews, document construction activities, and support safety and maintenance tasks while gaining experience in state government operations within the transportation sector.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) with strong scores in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
• Ability to perform manual labor and follow instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey crew and traffic hazard surveys.
• Document daily construction activities and project status.
• Maintain highway rights-of-way and repair safety appurtenances.
• Repair roads and bridges; test and inspect construction materials.
• Verify project elements are built according to plans and specifications.
