Job summary

The Department of Game, Fish & Parks in Rapid City, SD is seeking a Summer Habitat Management Intern for May–August. The role focuses on developing and maintaining habitat to enhance wildlife and hunting opportunities on state land, with seminars and on-the-ground activities.

Extensive travel may be required; a valid driver''s license is needed. Intern must obtain a SD Commercial Applicator''s license (G, 1A, 7, 12) and be prepared for outdoor work and strenuous conditions.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a student at a college, university, or technical institute.
• Must have a valid driver''s license at start of internship.
• Willing to perform strenuous outdoor labor in variable weather.
• Must obtain SD Commercial Applicator''s license (G, 1A, 7, 12) upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to habitat program staff in Region 1 to aid in habitat development and maintenance.
• Learn key habitat management techniques through seminars and field activities.
• Potentially lead projects based on intern''s abilities; travel across western SD may be required.
