Job summary

South Dakota State Government, Department of Game, Fish & Parks, is seeking a Habitat Management Intern for a summer session in Rapid City, SD. The role supports habitat program staff, helps develop and maintain wildlife habitats, and provides learning opportunities through seminars and field work.

The intern will potentially lead projects, travel across western SD, and must obtain a SD Commercial Applicator's license after hire; a valid driver’s license is required and field labor is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to habitat program staff in Region 1 to aid in developing and maintaining habitat for wildlife species and increased hunting opportunities.
• Learn habitat management techniques through seminars and on-the-ground activities; may lead projects and travel across the western half of the state.
