Job summary

Valero Energy is offering a Grains Origination Intern position for Summer 2027 at its ethanol plant locations, including Mount Vernon, IN and Fort Dodge, IA. The intern supports grain procurement, contracts, and reporting while learning from the commodities team.

The role is an hourly, nonexempt internship requiring 40 hours per week, with background checks and drug screen as part of pre-employment. Interns gain exposure to grain markets and accounting processes within Valero’s intern program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics or related field
• Minimum 60 credit hours completed by start of intern program
• Graduation Aug 2027–May 2029

Responsibilities

• Purchases corn supply from producers in accordance with guidelines
• Communicates effectively with producers for contracting grain purchases and scheduling deliveries
• Enters purchase contracts into grain accounting system
• Maintains grain position reports for facility
• Works with accounting department to ensure timely payments to producers
• Completes assigned projects timely, collaborating with team members
