Job summary

Rayonier is offering Summer 2027 forestry internships for sophomores to graduates. Positions begin late May and run 10–12 weeks, with overtime eligibility and potential housing assistance.

Interns receive mileage reimbursement and a taxable housing allowance of $3,000 total, with hourly rates by class: Sophomore $20, Junior $22, Senior $24, Grad $25. Responsibilities include measuring inventories, log quality checks, stumpage review, safety compliance, and learning transport logistics.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program for Forestry, Science, Environmental Science, or related studies.
• Completion of two years of college required.
• Must have basic MS Word/Excel, GPS apps, and GIS; compass skills required.
• Strong planning, organizing, and communication skills; high energy and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Measure and scale bolts for inventories at Gwinn and satellite yards.
• Perform log quality checks at weight scales and job sites.
• Assist in reviewing/concerning stumpage sales from landownerships.
• Assist in supervising permit sale road building and harvest/transportation activities.
• Inspect active/completed permit sales.
• Learn transportation logistics of trucking/rail/barging.
• Participate in Gwinn’s monthly safety requirements.
• Assist in marking timber on MFL lands for harvest prep.
• Familiarize with SFI/BMP principles and perform harvest inspections.
• Engage in special projects on pulpwood, bolt specs, efficiency studies.
