Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) invites engineering students to join a 10–12 week paid summer internship in Shreveport, LA. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, work on real projects, and gain mentorship while supporting safety and performance initiatives.

The program offers a $1,500/month housing stipend for moves over 45 miles, and opportunities to develop data-driven skills with dashboards, cost estimates and reports. Graduation is Dec 2027 or later; relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Must be ABET-accredited and in good academic standing.
• Must have completed at least freshman year and be available for summer relocation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams on planning, design and execution of projects.
• Assist in design reviews, training sessions and constructability assessments.
• Support data collection, databases, reports and dashboards for decision making.
• Contribute to safety and operational standards while on site visits.
