Job summary

The Steppingstone Summer Internship invites motivated college students to learn about education, access, and nonprofit work by supporting rising 5th–7th graders in a rigorous academic setting at Milton Academy in Milton, MA. Interns work with lead teachers and mentors, participate in weekly seminars, and gain hands-on classroom experience.

Responsibilities include co-teaching, lesson planning, supervising study time, and assisting with program operations.

Qualifications

• Must have completed at least one year of college by start of internship.
• Prior experience with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Basic understanding of restorative justice concepts.

Responsibilities

• Co-teach core subjects and develop Scholars’ social-emotional skills with a mentor.
• Meet weekly with a mentor for professional development and feedback.
• Plan and lead lessons with guidance from a mentor and support Scholar groups.
• Provide 1-on-1 or small group academic and social-emotional support.
• Observe classes to identify effective teaching practices and Scholar strengths.
• Substitute teach as needed.
• Serve as bus monitor daily to Milton Academy and Boston routes, ensuring safety.
