Job summary

Itron in Liberty Lake, WA is seeking a 2027 Summer Data Science Intern to help advance innovation in Utilities & Energy. You will collaborate with experienced data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders to support solutions improving grid optimization and DER integration.

The role offers 40 hours/week for 10 weeks, starting May/June 2027, ending Aug/Sept 2027, with a hybrid-work-friendly environment and a competitive benefits package; starting wage determined by skills and experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed a bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Completion of at least two years of college coursework.
• Experience with Python and SQL in data science contexts.
• Familiarity with ML concepts and data analysis techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support data and ML pipelines in production-like environments.
• Assist with cloud infrastructure deployment and maintenance.
• Clean, prepare, and validate large-scale datasets for analysis.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to research, model testing, and improvements.
• Communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
