Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Custodian for the Summer Help program. The role runs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and pays $16.25 per hour for the period June 1 to August 14, 2026. You will perform general cleaning, trash removal, and support maintenance tasks across school facilities.

The position requires physical ability, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to supervise others and learn electronic work orders. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have high school degree or GED.
• Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks.
• Have a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment.
• Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum all areas- hard & soft surfaces.
• Reposition furniture correctly.
• Dust/vacuum ceiling vents.
• Vacuum upholstered furniture.
• Trash removal.
• Clean/sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures.
• Cleans glass.
• Dusts horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds.
• Spot cleaning of carpets and hard flooring.
• Lawn mowing.
• Assist with delivery of supplies.
• Properly maintain equipment.
• Report maintenance issues to Head & Lead Custodian.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
