Job summary

General Motors in Arlington, TX seeks a Controls Engineer Intern to support maintenance staff in operating and maintaining specialist equipment. You’ll gain hands-on PLC, robotics, and HMI experience while contributing to problem solving in a fast-paced plant environment.

You will lead electrical projects, participate in plant meetings, and develop cost estimates and schedules for minor projects, with start dates May 24 and June 14, 2027. relocation stipend provided for eligible students.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Controls Engineering.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Willing to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Able to work in a plant environment.
• Start dates May 24 and June 14, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Leads electrical projects including new or operations improvements, and periodic repair and replacement.
• Represents engineering in plant meetings to help reach performance goals.
• Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, and business cases for minor projects.
• Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems.
• Programming of manufacturing technology (PLC, robotics, HMI).
• Analyzes product, process and technology to determine best methods of manufacture.
• Assists in design/build of tools and equipment or improvements to processes.
