Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation offers a 10-week Summer Internship Program (Construction Intern - VSL) for students pursuing Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields. The internship combines hands-on field exposure with office support on a major highway project in Virginia or Maryland.

You will work with project managers, engineers, and field staff to learn planning, documentation, safety, and collaboration across teams while developing technical and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate student with an interest in construction and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily field and office activities to support project operations.
• Support project scheduling and planning efforts.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and project documentation.
• Prepare and manage submittals and reports.
• Assist with surveying and layout activities.
• Track job quantities, production rates, and project progress.
• Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Identify and communicate discrepancies between design plans and field conditions.
• Participate in safety meetings and support project safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
