Job summary

Talcott Financial Group in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Communications Summer Intern to immerse in real-life business challenges alongside our communications team. This ten-week program features a weekly hybrid onsite arrangement on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with hands-on assignments that expand technical expertise, business knowledge and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a similar field.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately proofread and edit corporate documents with strong attention to grammar.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with MS SharePoint or photo editing is a plus!
• Strong knowledge of LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
• Basic understanding of data analytics, click through rates, visits, etc.
• Strong ability to process instructions and move quickly to executing on tasks.
• Intellectual curiosity that allows for clarity on assigned tasks.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Strong project and people management skills.
• Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
• Team oriented with ability to work well independently.

Responsibilities

• Support internal and external corporate communication messaging
• Create written and digital marketing materials to support employee engagement
• Leverage social media for branding with Talcott events
• Maintain and/or update our SharePoint employee intranet site
• Draft and proofread employee communications
• Assist with ad hoc projects as required
