Job summary

Baird, Hampton & Brown is seeking a temporary Civil Intern for the summer to gain hands-on experience across private and public sector projects. You will learn from an established team of engineers, expose yourself to diverse project types, and develop essential technical skills in Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities include analyzing survey data, planning systems, preparing construction documents, and presenting project updates to managers and clients.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Plan and design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures, following construction and government standards using design software.
• Analyze and produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, roadway, etc. using design software.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans, hydraulic calculations, prepare construction documents for permitting.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
• Communicate project status with the Project Manager, client, and any other relevant parties.
• Accompany engineers on site visits to view ongoing company projects.
• Attend client meetings and represent the civil interests of the firm.
