Job summary

Kirkham Michael is seeking energetic civil engineering students for Summer 2027 internships in Omaha and Lincoln, NE. You will work under a senior team member with tasks including field observation, materials testing, basic engineering calculations, and CAD design.

Training in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation GeoPak will be provided as you apply education to practical design solutions within a multi-disciplinary civil firm.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering program with a Bachelor's degree in progress.
• Knowledge of civil engineering concepts and practices.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience in transportation or construction engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Observe field activities and assist with materials testing.
• Perform basic survey services.
• Support bridge inspections and aid in inspection reports.
• Complete standard computations or analyses.
• Assist with AutoCAD or Microstation drawing tasks for project plans.
• Support hydrology and hydraulics studies and permit applications.
