Job summary

Carboline is seeking a Chemist Intern for a 12-week summer program in St. Louis, MO. The internship runs May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027, offering hands-on lab work in high-performance coatings, linings, and fireproofing technologies under supervision of senior chemists.

Participants design, perform, and analyze experiments, present findings to industry leaders, and develop professional skills in a fast-paced, safety-conscious lab environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Available to work 30-40 hours per week from May through August.
• Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with lab instruments and testing procedures.
• Participate in all stages of applied research, review relevant technical literature, objective identification, formulation development, preparation, calibration, application, performance evaluation, and data analysis to support technical initiatives.
• Design and execute experiments under expert mentorship as part of a defined research project.
• Analyze results and draw meaningful scientific conclusions that support innovation.
• Perform statistical experimental design to identify trends, compare results against specifications, and contribute to technical conclusions.
