Job summary

Merck invites students to join the Future Talent Program as interns in the Chemical Engineering Research and Development (CERD) department. The 11–12 week summer internship will focus on API process development using organic synthesis techniques, with opportunities to work on small molecule and cross-modality projects, while engaging in mentorship and departmental activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering with Winter 2027 or Spring 2028 graduation.
• Available for 11–12 weeks beginning May or June 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Work as an integrated member of the CERD team on API process development using organic synthesis.
• Participate in meetings, seminars, and site tours to learn pharmaceutical development.
• Record results accurately in electronic notebooks and maintain safe lab practices.
• Present project findings to the department.
