Job Description
As a Summer Camp Counselor (or Team Leader), you’ll be the core presence for each camper, guiding them through a safe and engaging summer experience. You will stay with the same group all week, fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes safety and personal growth. This seasonal role involves working full-time, Monday through Friday.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Lead and Supervise Campers:
    • Supervise groups of 15+ campers weekly, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
    • Foster group connection through activities and interactions.
    • Manage camper behavior using restorative practices and support diverse needs.
    • Collaborate with instructors to deliver Galileo’s curriculum.
    • Support in preparing learning materials and spaces.
    • Participate in extended care programming.
  2. Engage In All Camp Activities:
    • Plan, set up, and run daily activities with teammates.
    • Lead campers during ceremonies, snacks, and lunch.
    • Participate in camp songs, chants, and skits.
    • Contribute to a joyful and memorable camp experience.
  3. Provide Exceptional Customer Service:
    • Greet campers and families warmly.
    • Follow check-in/check-out procedures.
    • Communicate with families about campers’ experiences.
  4. Build Your Skills:
    • Complete online training on Galileo policies and education.
    • Attend pre-camp training days.
    • Engage in ongoing feedback and development.

Compensation
Starting at $19.56/hour for new staff, with higher rates based on experience and tenure.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising groups of children.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • Ability to work full-time Monday-Friday for at least 4 weeks.

  • Ability to complete background checks and certifications.

Colorado State Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18.
  • Verifiable experience with school-age children.
  • Completion of required trainings and background checks.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, with shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and pre-camp training days.
