Join a team of fun lovers at John Knox Center for a summer full of making impacts, friends, and memories! Our beautiful campus is located about an hour southwest of Knoxville, Tennessee, on Watts Bar Lake, offering a full week of fun followed by weekends in town. We seek energetic individuals who can live with campers, serve as role models and mentors, and supervise activities. Counselors will assist in leading program activities based on their expertise, such as canoeing, crafts, high ropes, or the nature center (training provided!). Who we are: John Knox Center, established in 1960, is a summer camp and Christian retreat that has expanded to include retreats for various groups beyond Presbyterian congregations. We also operate the River Ridge Environmental Education Program, hosting 1,500-2,000 participants annually. Summer camp remains our core ministry, welcoming around 200 campers and 15 staff from around the world, fostering a close-knit Christian community. We are a ministry of the Presbytery of East Tennessee (PCUSA) and embrace diversity, supporting individuals of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities.
Location: Situated on 140 acres in Ten Mile, TN, our camp features amenities like swimming, canoeing, kayaking, a ropes course, archery, and hiking trails. Located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, with 3.9 miles of shoreline on Watts Bar Lake, we are close to Knoxville, Nashville, Asheville, and Atlanta, and 15 minutes from Kingston, TN.
