Job Description Summary

The Penn Campus Recreation Adventure Summer Camp is seeking active, enthusiastic, and responsible counselors passionate about sports and adventure to work as Summer Camp Counselors for 4 weeks in July and early August. Prior childcare, camp experience, or education major/experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the health and safety of all campers and fellow counselors.
  • Manage campers aged 6-12 in a recreational camp setting alongside other staff.
  • Address camper needs appropriately and foster a positive environment.
  • Prevent bullying, teasing, and inappropriate behavior.
  • Organize and lead various group activities weekly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities and activity spaces.
  • Communicate with parents regarding camper experiences and report concerns.
  • Keep accurate records including incident reports, camper documentation, and attendance.
  • Follow all emergency and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Distribute snacks and drinks, ensuring hydration and safety.
Requirements
  • Completion of required camp certifications upon hire.
  • Experience or education in camp, youth programs, recreation, or working with children.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead activities.
  • Attend a 1-week training session before camp begins.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
Location & Department

Philadelphia, PA, Division of Recreation & Intercollegiate Athletics.

Pay Range

$7.25 - $15.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
