Job description

Summer Camp Counselor position at local Country Club. Spend your summer outside in the sunshine! Seasonal/Part-Time position.


POSITION FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  2. Respond to member questions by providing correct information and answering the telephone in a professional manner.
  3. Assist with setup, decorations, and safety checks before events.
  4. Host and engage children and families in activities, including pool activities, events, camps, and holiday events.
  5. Assist parents in signing their children in and out and checking identification.
  6. Be knowledgeable of and comply, at all times, with the Club’s standards, policies, and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  7. Ensure knowledge of all children’s allergies and special needs.
  8. Supervise children and use good judgment when in our care. Adhere to all rules regarding younger members.
  9. Assist with handling kids’ meals.
  10. Communicate effectively and inform immediate supervisors of any unforeseen circumstances and react appropriately.
  11. Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of children’s playroom.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by managers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  1. High school education or equivalent required.
  2. Must possess CPR and First Aid certification.
  3. Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and use of office equipment.
  4. Must have knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
  6. Must possess excellent communication skills including strong verbal, written, and positive interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to project voice and get the attention of and cooperation from young members.
  8. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
  9. Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
  10. Ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
  11. Excellent team player with the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Requires the ability to safely lift items up to 30 pounds.
  2. Continuous walking and standing.
  3. Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, and repetitive actions.
  4. Be physically able to reach, bend, and stoop.
  5. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  6. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  7. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  8. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  9. Must be effective in listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by members, guests, and team members.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor setting, busy and noisy environment. Some varied weather conditions are expected with exposure to heat/humidity, or cool/cold weather. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
