Job Title: Summer Camp Woodshop Director

Join us at Camp Walt Whitman for a seasonal position as a Woodshop Director. This role involves leading woodworking activities for campers aged 7-15, fostering creativity, ensuring safety, and integrating the woodshop into the broader camp experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Planning: Design age-appropriate woodworking projects for various skill levels.
2. Instruction: Teach proper use of tools and techniques to campers.
3. Safety Management: Maintain a safe workspace and enforce safety protocols.
4. Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and repair tools and equipment regularly.
5. Camper Engagement: Promote a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork and confidence.
6. Staff Collaboration: Coordinate with camp staff to integrate woodworking activities.
7. Inventory Management: Monitor materials and request supplies as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in woodworking or carpentry, with the ability to teach children.
• Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards in woodworking.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and work in a woodshop environment for extended periods.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a full-time, seasonal position from June 12th to August 10th, 2025. Compensation includes a competitive salary, room and board, and a travel stipend. The role is in-person, with additional camp activities and perks.
