Job summary

Harris is offering a Summer 2027 Building Automation Intern role to gain hands-on exposure to HVAC controls on construction sites. You’ll learn from Building Automation Systems Specialists and preview a career in mechanical contracting and building automation.

You will work across multiple project sites, observe safety policies, and translate classroom concepts into real-world applications while exploring other opportunities within Harris.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction or related degree.
• Interested in pursuing a career in the mechanical contracting / HVAC industry
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems; what they do and how they operate
• Strong problem solving and collaborative skills required

Responsibilities

• Gain on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process
• Get a realistic job preview of the Building Automation Systems Specialist role, and explore other career opportunities within the Building Automation team
• Gain hands-on experience in HVAC Controls working alongside our Building Automation Systems Specialists on construction project sites
• Learn site-specific safety policies and procedures
• Get exposure to other departments and learn how your role impacts the business as a whole
• Translate concepts learned in the classroom to real world experiences
