Job summary

MoDOT is seeking an Communications Intern to support department publications, website editorial content, and public outreach. You will work under moderate supervision to manage materials for internal and external audiences and help coordinate outreach projects.

The role focuses on photography, video production, social media publishing, and creation of publicity materials. It offers exposure to state-level campaigns and events, proving a practical start in communications.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related.
  • Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

  • Takes photos and develops video productions of department activities.
  • Generates, edits and publishes social media content.
  • Develops website content, handouts and other publicity material, designs and publishes written materials.
  • Assists with department special projects and events such as Missouri State Fair exhibits, conference displays, work zone safety campaigns, roadway safety activities and other special promotions.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Central Office (105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO)
