Job summary

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is looking for a qualified Summer Camp Pottery Instructor for youth camps at Ballard Community Center in Seattle. This seasonal role emphasizes foundational pottery techniques and artistic expression while providing a safe and positive environment for participants.

Instructors will work Monday to Friday from 8:45 AM to 4:15 PM, guiding children in creativity and hands-on learning. Ideal candidates will be experienced in pottery and enjoy working with youth.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in pottery, ceramics, or visual arts instruction preferred.
• Ability to manage groups in a positive, patient, and supportive manner.

• Instruct participants in basic pottery and clay-handling techniques.
• Lead structured projects and creative activities using clay and other materials.

Responsibilities

• Instruct participants in basic pottery and clay-handling techniques
• Lead structured projects and creative activities using clay and other materials
• Supervise participants and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe camp environment
• Set up and clean up tools, materials, and workspaces
• Communicate effectively with ARC staff and site supervisors
• Follow ARC and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Experience in pottery, ceramics, or visual arts instruction preferred
• Experience working with children in a recreational, classroom, or camp setting
• Ability to manage groups in a positive, patient, and supportive manner
