Job summary

IRA Financial in Sioux Falls, SD is offering a Summer 2026 Accounting Internship. The intern will support day-to-day accounting tasks, gain practical experience in financial reporting, bookkeeping, data entry, and analysis, and learn how the accounting department operates.

This on-site, Monday–Friday role runs May through August 2026 as non-exempt hourly work. Ideal candidates are pursuing an accounting or finance degree and have strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.
• Help reconcile bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Support the team in ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist in data entry, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
• Help with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all entries are accurately recorded.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and assist with internal audits.
• Other tasks as assigned by management.
