Our short-term positions are not part of the salary scale advertised within this job posting. If this occurs, your salary rate will be discussed with you during the interview phase.

Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking applicants for the position of Seasonal Laborer II.

DUTIES:

  • Perform manual labor tasks to assist skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, plumbers, and masons.
  • Assist with installation of drainage, sewer, and water pipelines, including positioning and sealing pipe sections and culverts.
  • Digs trenches, refills excavations, and levels materials using hand tools.
  • Set and repair curbing; patch pavement using various materials and tools.
  • Install and maintain signs, including digging supports and installing signs.
  • Plant, prune, fertilize, and maintain trees, flowers, and shrubs; perform landscaping and beautification tasks.
  • Load and unload supplies, operate hand-held power tools, and perform inventory checks.
  • Operate motor vehicles related to assigned tasks.
  • Perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Salaries are based on a 40-hour workweek. Work schedules and days off are at the discretion of the supervisor. The position may require working weekends and holidays.

First consideration will be given to applicants who apply within the first 14 days.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least six months of full-time or equivalent part-time manual labor experience in construction or maintenance work.
