Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. is seeking a Spring 2027 Test Engineer Intern to gain hands-on electronics test experience across prototype to acceptance stages of aerospace systems.

You will collaborate with a test engineering team in a fast-paced, startup-style environment, assemble test setups, collect data, and analyze trends while presenting results to peers and leadership.

All internships are onsite with competitive compensation; strong written and verbal communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in engineering at an accredited institution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and improve test processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate findings clearly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in process documentation and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the test engineering team to execute tests in the electronics lab (functional testing, DSP verification, power converter measurements).
• Work with test architectures and systems, including equipment selection, fixtures, data logging, and interfaces.
• Assemble complex test setups with design engineers and technicians.
• Execute tests at prototype, qualification, and acceptance stages.
• Assist in troubleshooting production issues using engineering problem-solving skills.
• Collect and analyze test data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Assist in quality control activities including inspections and root-cause analysis for non-conforming products.

As a Test Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in electronics and test theory as well as hands-on lab work. This position will span various aspects of electronics test engineering while supporting the daily operations of our organization. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in test.

In the space industry, test engineering is a critical technical field that combines deep technical knowledge with extensive hands-on experience. Test engineer interns play a broad role that ranges from working on test plans and procedures to designing test PCBs, along with spending plenty of time in the lab assembling and testing cutting-edge phased array systems and components.

CesiumAstro interns regularly present their work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership throughout the course of the summer. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the test engineering team to execute tests in the electronics lab, such as functional testing, digital signal integrity verification, or power converter control loop measurements
• Work with test architectures and test systems, including equipment selection, test fixtures, data logging methodology, and interfaces.
• Assemble complex test setups, working with design engineers and technicians
• Executing tests at the prototype, qualification, and acceptance stages.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues by applying engineering principles and problem-solving skills.
• Collect and analyze data from test processes to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Assist in quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and root cause analysis for non-conforming products.

Requirements And Minimum Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in engineering an accredited institution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and improve test processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, share ideas, and contribute to collective goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in process documentation and quality control activities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, and vector signal analyzers.
• Programming or scripting experience, such as Python, LabVIEW, SQL, MATLAB, or Embedded C.
• Understanding of RF and mixed-signal hardware (e.g. amplifiers, filters, ADCs/DACs, antennas).
