Job summary

CesiumAstro, a leader in satellite communication systems, seeks a Systems Engineering Intern to contribute to real‑world space projects. You will work with electrical, mechanical, software, RF, and test teams on requirements, interfaces, and system analyses.

The role emphasizes hands‑on, multidisciplinary engineering in a fast‑paced, onsite setting. Students pursuing space systems engineering will gain practical, team‑oriented experience and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software), Physics, or related technical discipline from an accredited university.
• Targeting rising juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Practical experience working with space systems through coursework, internships, clubs, or research.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who works well with cross-functional groups and adapts quickly to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to the success of our projects. Job Requirements And Minimum Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or PhD program in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software), Physics, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university.
• Targeting rising juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Practical experience working with space systems through coursework, internships, clubs, or research.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with systems engineering tools and methodologies, such as requirements flow‑down, interface control, system budgets, or validation planning.
• Familiarity with model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo, SysML) is a plus.
• Participation in student design teams, such as CubeSat, rocketry, or aerospace competitions.
• Exposure to hardware/software integration or system‑level testing.
• Aerospace or defense industry experience is a bonus.
