With over 300 animals in our hands-on zoo, high ropes course, archery and riflery ranges, crafts and pottery studio, and an incredible list of science and nature activities, Cub Creek Science Camp is not your average summer camp. Cub Creek Science Camp is a residential summer camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 17. We are dedicated to providing an unforgettable and unique summer camp experience, but above all else, we strive to help our campers gain self-confidence, discover who they are, and make lasting friendships! We are looking to hire Summer Camp Counselors who want to make a difference in the lives of children, be great role models, and can appreciate animals and nature. Counselors should be able to show leadership, maturity, integrity, and an ability to work independently. We look forward to spending a summer with you.

Requirements

Work cooperatively with fellow staff to provide a healthy, safe, and enjoyable camp environment and experience for all campers. Cabin Counselors and Instructors live in a cabin group of 16 campers and provide activity instruction to campers during the day.

Out of Cabin positions are also available. Check the boxes on the application for your desired roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to campers on their schedule, activity choices, and abiding by camp rules
  • Ensure campers are on time for activities with the appropriate supplies. Assist campers at meal times and in the cabin to ensure campers are maintaining health and hygiene practices such as showering, wearing clean clothes, and getting appropriate sleep
  • Lead cabin activities, songs, and games that are engaging and age-appropriate
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training
  • Instruct assigned camp activities to campers
  • Ensure the safety of all campers when participating in camp activities
  • Weekend work is required; this position requires on-site availability 7 days a week for the contract period.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Completed at least 1 year of college education or equivalent
  • Adhere to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first
  • Have a passion for science, animals, and childhood development
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas and instructions in a constructivemanner
  • Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision
  • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills
  • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others
  • Willingness to adhere to the camp's code of conduct, rules, and policies
  • Startingpay is $4500 for the entire summer.
  • $100 camp store credit.
  • Housing, meals, and laundry are included.
  • 2-hour break provided each day, and 1 scheduled day offeach week.
  • Additional leadership training and certificationsare available to qualified candidates, including high-ropescourseand lifeguard certifications.
