Job summary

NewPoint Real Estate Capital LLC is a prominent commercial real estate finance company delivering lending solutions nationwide. As an Intern, you will work with our Production, Underwriting and Asset Management teams, gaining hands-on CRE lending experience through shadowing, guest speakers, and cross-training in several departments.

You will develop knowledge of loans, property types, market due diligence, and cash-flow modeling.

Qualifications

• Undergrad student pursuing a degree in business, finance or real estate.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong computer literacy including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Acrobat.
• Ability to work in a team or independently and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated multitasking and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of CRE finance including loans and property types.
• Preliminary screening and structuring of lending opportunities.
• Learn market surveys and due diligence.
• Model property cash flow analyses.
• Prepare preliminary loan packages for presentation.
• Understand underwriting requirements for transactions.
• Monitor loan and property performance for portfolio servicing.
• Review rent rolls and lease abstracts.
• Participate in other projects and duties.

Locations: Plano, TX and Chevy Chase, MD

Dates: June 8 - August 5, 2027

As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside leaders and senior members of our Production, Underwriting and/or Asset Management teams. You will provide analytical support, giving you exposure to various aspects of the products and services NewPoint provides its clients. You’ll get hands on experience of commercial real estate lending. Your immersive experience will include job shadowing, guest speakers, and cross-training with various departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a working knowledge of commercial real estate finance including an understanding of loans, property types and real estate lenders
• Preliminary screening and structuring of lending opportunities
• Learn to perform market surveys and other preliminary due diligence
• Develop an understanding of how to model a property cash flow analysis
• Learn to prepare preliminary loan packages for presentation
• Develop a working knowledge of the underwriting requirements for each transaction
• Learn what is required to monitor loan and property performance/condition to properly service commercial mortgage loan portfolios
• Review rent rolls, lease abstracts, property inspections
• Participate in other projects and duties

Qualifications

• Current Undergrad student; preferably working toward a degree in business, finance, accounting, real estate related program
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Possess computer literacy and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including developing complex financial models), Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to operate effectively in a team environment as well as able to work independently
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate a proven track record of multi-‐tasking and attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
