The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) invites applications for Summer 2027 internship positions across the Commonwealth. We welcome law students, graduate students, and undergraduates for opportunities in our Private Counsel Division and Strategic Litigation Unit.

Interns will gain hands-on experience across multiple units, including appellate work, innocence investigation, parole advocacy, and impact litigation, while developing research and courtroom skills in a supportive,

• Demonstrated commitment to zealous advocacy and protection of fundamental constitutional and human rights.
• Access to reliable transportation to travel to courts, clients, and investigation locations; and,
• Access to a personal computer with home internet access sufficient to work remotely; and

Responsabilidades

• Fully litigate a client’s case from assignment through the final administrative hearing.
• Assist with legal research and observe Superior Court trials.
• Visit incarcerated clients and review psychological and scientific studies.
• Assist with other projects within the unit.
• Screen cases, provide litigation support, and draft trial/appellate filings in innocence matters.
• Screen clients for access to counsel, assist on staff cases, and conduct legal research for parole matters.
• Draft responses, conduct research, and prepare discovery packets in criminal appeals.
• Assist in preparation for direct litigation, including review of discovery and evidentiary hearings.
• Research and write advisory memoranda on issues of systemic importance and help edit briefs.
