Job summary

Xanterra invites you to join the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Operations team for a seasonal, full-time internship. You will rotate through retail, food & beverage, risk, and sustainability areas, gaining hands-on guest services experience at a national memorial.

Program runs May–August with a 40-hour work week and pay of $15.00 per hour. Relocation to Keystone, SD is required for the duration of the internship, and opportunities for management training are available.

Qualifications

• Current college student in Hospitality, Business, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record in last 3 years.
• Able to stand for approximately 8 hours.
• Able to walk for long periods.
• Able to push or pull 50-75 pounds and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods.

To be eligible for this internship, you must:

• Relocate to Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota for the duration of the program
• Be studying or interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry

Job Summary

This is a rotational internship program that allows interns to gain hands-on experience in multiple areas within the retail, food & beverage, risk, and sustainability departments while participating in classes and activities to learn more about operating guest services at a national memorial.

The Details:

Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time Internship

Season Dates: May - August

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Schedule: 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Responsibilities

What you will learn:

• Learn about operations at a high-volume historical property
• Gain hands‑on experience in operating and support departments
• Have access to management training opportunities from the course catalog
• Network with managers and directors at the Memorial
• Identify some of the challenges and solutions for operating a sustainable hospitality enterprise within a National Park.
