Job summary

HDR is seeking a Summer 2027 Movable Bridge Engineering Intern in Fort Lauderdale to assist project teams with planning, analysis, and rehabilitation of movable bridges. You will help prepare calculations, reports, and technical documents while participating in inspections and field assessments.

The role offers exposure to structural evaluation of bridge components and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across transportation projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering teams with planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of movable bridge structures.
  • Support the preparation of calculations, reports, plans, and technical documents.
  • Participate in bridge inspections, site visits, and field assessments.
  • Work with engineers to evaluate structural and mechanical bridge components.
  • Utilize industry-standard engineering software and design tools.

What You'll Do
  • Assist engineering teams with the planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of movable bridge structures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
