Job summary

HDR is offering a Bridge Internship within the Bridges and Structures group. The role provides real-world experience under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, supporting bridge design and inspection projects. You will work with MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA and related tools, participate in inspections, and contribute to load-rating analyses and plan production.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • GPA of 3.0+ preferred for applicants.
  • Shows willingness to participate in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural details using software (MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA).
  • Bridge inspections.
  • Perform load rating calculations and support geometry/layout studies.

Primary Responsibilities

The Bridge Internship offers real-world experience on exciting projects and the opportunity to perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design and inspection projects. Tasks may include:

  • Developing structural details using specialized software (MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA or various concrete and steel design or analysis programs),
  • Bridge inspections
  • Performing structural load rating calculations as well as assisting with geometric layout and bridge type studies.
  • CADD plan production may also be required.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
